Individual work
An editorial book exploring traditional dyeing techniques such as Chinese Bai tie-dye and Japanese shibori. The book combines cultural research and visual storytelling to highlight the craftsmanship and history of textile dyeing.

My self-made tie-dye book cover

In this section, I introduced tie-dyeing traditions from various regions across the globe, with a particular focus on tie-dyed handicrafts from China: specifically lacquered fans, as well as Japan's shibori.
In terms of layout, I incorporated ample negative space and enlarged the images to give the overall design room to breathe, thereby enabling readers to gain a more thorough understanding of the subject matter.

This section offers a more detailed introduction to Chinese lacquer fans; I also highlight artists from two different countries who are applying innovation and technology to the art of tie-dye in today's modern society.
